FAQs

How do I book?

First select the boat you like best and can accommodate the number of people who will go fishing. After select the duration of fishing (that can be 5 or 8 hours depending on your time) and preferred departure date. Duration and departure times can be customized, just tell us. Finally acquires the necessary fishing licenses and bait.

We also have for you a wide variety of delicious fresh lunches and drinks that we took you to the boat the day of your fishing. You will not need to worry about anything, the only thing you’ll have to do is to enjoy fishing for sure, will be unforgettable. Once completed your selection, just press the ADD TO CART button and fill the form.

If you want to go fishing more than one day, please repeat the process.

What do I need to bring with me on the trip?

Bring a hat, sunblock, sunglasses, you can bring your own lunch and beverages, for your convenience you can order us lunch, snacks and drinks and will have them easily on the boat. Depending on the weather you can bring a jacket for morning and even a swimsuit for your tan. Also you will need extra cash for tip for the crew and for the fishing licenses if you didn’t bought these before on our site ($15.00 per person). Do not forget your camera, fond memories of fishing day are built always with us. There are many options to prevent seasick, like dramamine or ginger tablets, please ask your doctor.

What about the lunch?

You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, but for your convenience you will find at your disposal a variety of tasty and quality COSTCO products.

Do the boats have bathrooms?

Yes, all the boats have bathrooms on board. Only the pangas and boats under 20’ do not have bathrooms.

Do you guarantee a catch?

Remember is fishing no catching. Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that you will catch a billfish or a record tuna, but the Cabo Fishing Lover Captains never return empty handed.

Do I get a refund if I get sick the fishing day?

We do not provide any refund for those that get sick, so sleep well and don’t drink too much tequila the night before.

How many people can be on a boat?

That depends on the size of the ship you reserve. Each boat has a maximum capacity which by law can not be exceeded.

How much tip should I give?

10%- 20% or until 30% of the charter price, of course, based on your satisfaction of the team performance. Let your heart speak!

Should I buy fishing licenses for all going on board?

Yes, Mexican Law states that everyone on board (over the age of 13) does require a fishing license. You can buy fishing licenses at the time you are booking or on the morning of your fishing day, but we recommend you to buy once and do not waste time on the morning of your trip.

Can I cancel once I arrive?

Yes you can, but please note the cancellation policy will remain in effect for charters cancelled. Please see the cancellation policy below.

Do the guides speak English?

Yes, at least one member of your crew will speak English and all the captains speak “fishing english”

Will there be other people on the boat with us?

No. All our charters are private, unless you’re booking a shared boat.

When and where do the boats leave in the morning and for how long?

Most charters depart at first daylight, typically 6:30 – 7 a.m., depending on the chosen charter we will tell you where to go, office or dock.

Full fishing day is approximately 8 hours: 6:30-7:00 am to 2:00 – 3:00pm, Half-day fishing are 5 hours and return around 11:30-12:00. Custom departure time can be arranged.

What is the best time to fish Marlin?

It depends on the weather conditions and water temperature, but wintertime for striped marlin can be excellent, June to October for black and blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, dorado (mahi mahi) and bottomfish can be found all year round. Take a look at our Fishing Calendar for the best seasons.

Can I keep my fish?

We like to use and highly recommend the Catch and Release method for billfish. Release a billfish, maybe the fish son will be caught by your grandson… Crew has that in mind, not only to conserve these wonderful species, but because they know that these marine kings are sustaining themselves and their families. Sorry, what was the question? hehe, Yes, each boat is allowed to keep one billfish and three for others species.

What about cleaning, filleting and cooking my catch?

There are some places in both Cabo marines where your fish can be cleaned, filleted and frozen. Also, there are many restaurants that will cook you fish gladly.

Can I bring my fish home?

Yes, as long as it is frozen and in a plastic cooler. Ask your airline for cost and details.

Can we bring beer on to the boat?

Yes, beer and wine is permitted on the boat, and the crew can not drink with you. In fact you can order us beer. The boats have cooler and ice.

What if there is bad weather on the fishing day?

If on the day you’re scheduled to go out the weather is too bad, the Port Captain will close the port, in that case you can reschedule your trip or cancel it with a full refund. Please see our Cancellation and refund policy.

How is the weather in Los Cabos?

The weather is divine, about 78ºF on average, representing one of the main attractions of this place. During the summer, highs can be in the 90s F with rare occasional showers. Winter evenings may drop to the 60s, with daytime highs near 80.

Do I need experience to go fishing in Los Cabos?

No, this activity is designed for everyone from fishermen who fish for the first time to professionals with many years of experience. The Captain and crew are always available to help, advise and guide you in this beautiful sport.

Do I need to bring fishing equipment?

No, all our partners have professional and of the highest quality equipment available to you. But if you have your “lucky charm” gear not hesitate to bring it.
